Spring: Holme Slack CSI (Crime Scene Investigation)
In January, after always falling foul to a crime being committed in our classroom, we decided to set up CCTV to deter any criminals. However, even after regular monitoring of our class CCTV, someone was able to deactivate the CCTV and steal our purple pegs from the classroom late one night.
This led to Year 6 receiving a video message from Detective Inspector Brown who unfortunately, did not have time to solve the crime but instead, he asked Year 6 to collect the evidence, interview suspects and find the culprit. Once this was done, he needed Year 6 to send him a full report explaining how the case was solved. Take a look at the pictures to see our timeline of solving the case. Our perpetrator was the last person we ever expected it to be: Dave, our class monkey!!
AUTUMN
-We studied artist Jen Aranyi's landscapes and then created our own based on Antarctica and The Arctic. We used watercolour to complete them and added our own quote about protecting the environment as in our geography and science lessons, we found out about the devastating impact of climate change in Antarctica and on the world.

So far, we've had a great start to the term! The children have settled in well, are working hard and really enjoying our theme:
Amazing Antarctica!!
In our topic lessons, the children have learnt all about positions on world maps, climate zones, biomes and coming up, they will be finding out about animal adaptations and creating their own Antarctica art based on an American landscape artist.
Make sure to check back regularly for more class pictures and updates!
Important class information
The high expectations we have throughout school, remain a key feature in Year 6. We expect pupils to drive their own learning, demonstrating independence and resilience. Homework is given on a weekly basis and we expect pupils to complete the tasks given promptly as we prepare them for their transition to secondary school.
As your child will be taking their SATs this school year, there are a few things you can do to support them in preparing for their SATs. These are:
Please do not hesitate to come and see us, should you have any questions or need any support!
