Maths: We are a Teaching for Mastery school. Mastering maths means pupils of all ages acquiring a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of the subject. The phrase ‘teaching for mastery’ describes the elements of classroom practice and school organisation that combine to give pupils the best chances of mastering maths. Achieving mastery means acquiring a solid enough understanding of the maths that’s been taught to enable pupils to move on to more advanced material.
English: Our new unit this half term is based on the novel, The Nowhere Emporium. The children are already amazing us with their fabulous vocabulary!
Forest School: We visit our forest area regularly at school. You can find our weekly outdoor learning pictures on Class Dojo.
Foundation Subjects: This half term, we are learning all about WW2 in history, animals and their living habitats in science, coding in computing, relationships in PSHE, netball and gymnastics in PE.
Throughout the year, we undertake our My Happy Mind lessons every Tuesday morning where the children have their own journals for this. My Happy Mind helps to prepare today’s children for tomorrow’s world by building resilient, balanced and happy minds at home and school; equipping all children with the knowledge, skills and tools to thrive in the modern world.
Each night, children need to practice their times tables, reading and spellings. Spending 10 minutes on each activity.
