“When taught well, physical education enthuses and inspires pupils to participate fully and develop a life-long love of physical activity, sport and exercise” (Ofsted).
This evident life-long love of P.E shines through all the children who make up our Sports Council here at Holme Slack Primary School. Our Sports Council is elected at the start of every new academic year and consists of two children from each year group in Key Stage 2.
They have several important responsibilities; the most important one is providing a voice for the pupils in all matters relating to sport. Further roles and responsibilities of our Sports Council range from ensuring all equipment is tidily stored and maintained, to independently organising playground sporting activities for all children to partake in. Our Sports Council act as a binding link between the pupils and P.E staff at Holme Slack, taking part in regular Pupil Voice opportunities. They share the views and opinions of all children, suggesting activities and opportunities which will enthuse even the most reluctant of sportsmen and women. As the year goes on, more responsibilities emerge for these dedicated children, providing a superb dose of accountability.
